Why I'm Running: Nick Maedel

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Nick Maedel is one of many elite runners in the field for this year's 26.2 With Donna, but he won't have to travel far.

Nick grew up in Orange Park.  He was a star cross country runner at Ridgeview High School, and he earned an opportunity to compete for the cross country team at Florida State University.

Sunday will be Nick's first full marathon.  In addition to wanting to conquer this personal challenge, Maedel is also running to honor his mother, a cancer survivor.

New Type of Hearing Implant Surgery Performed on Children at Wolfson Children’s Hospital

Jacksonville, Fla. -- When Orange Park resident Natasha Rich gave birth to twin boys, Benjamin and Sawyer, she and her husband Trent received unexpected news: Benjamin was born with microtia atresia, an underdevelopment of his right external ear. His left ear, while it appeared normal, also had atresia, a condition in which the child’s middle ear canal is underdeveloped or closed. Because of this combination of issues, he was severely hearing-impaired in both ears.

Shellac: The Real Deal

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Karen Swinson swears by it.

That's why you'll find the Orange Park realtor at Salina Nails Salon in Fleming Island every 2 weeks like clockwork.

Sure, the service is great.

However, it's the shellac that keeps her coming back.

"There's no chipping or flaking -- there's nothing!" Karen explains with excitement.

She's right.

Since the hybrid nail polish, created by Creative Nail Design (CND), first hit the market, copycat products have emerged offering similar services.

This morning (2/22/12), The Good Morning Jacksonville team takes a closer look at the hottest nail product on the market, and how you can be sure you're getting the product you ask for at your local salon.
