Three Transported to Hospital After Car Crashes into Home

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- An 8-year-old girl went to the hospital after a full-size Ford pickup truck crashed into her home near the intersection of Blairmore Boulevard and Clermont Drive, officials said.

Rescue workers at the scene explained that a man and his wife were driving down Clermont when the man began to lose control of the vehicle.

The wife told the Clay County Fire Department that her husband appeared to be choking so she grabbed the wheel, but couldn't steer the car clear of the fence they crashed through.

After hitting the fence, the woman told rescuers that the car did a nearly 360-degree turn and ended up crashing into the home.

The husband went to the hospital.

The truck wound up on top of the little girl, who was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but rescuers said they thought the child would be alright.

Shortly after the crash, the child's mother came out of the house and collapsed in the yard.  She, too, had to be taken to the hospital.
