Dr. Dawn Emerick, Executive Director of the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, will facilitate a kick-off meeting for the Concussions Study Council which consists of over 20 medical professionals and sports personnel.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The Seminole Seminoles defeated the Orange Park Raiders 21-16, Friday night.

The Raiders defense forced six turnovers on the night but came up short. Orange Park ends the season with an 8-5 record.

All American Games Present the got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition

Get your routines ready because here's something to cheer about! "got milk?" and the All American Games have teamed up for the 2010 got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition - a chance for two cheer squads from across America to show what you've got on the sidelines of the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 8, 2011.

To enter the competition, just upload a video of your best routine on HighSchoolSports.net beginning November 1. Cheer squads and fans can also view all the entries and vote for your favorite routine! Voting ends on December 8, so go, fight, WIN!

The two winning squads will be announced after December 17, 2010.

Balloon Launch at Oak Leaf High School, Nov. 18th

Students from the Academy of Aerospace Technology have been learning about the “History of Flight.”  In order to help them understand the principles of science, mathematics, and technology necessary to create the oldest human carrying aircraft, they were recently tasked with creating their own hot air balloons.  So, in the spirit of competition, November 18th from 8:00-10:00 a.m., the students will launch their balloon creations with a follow-up awards ceremony for the “Most Successful” balloon launch.

Minding Your Manners

The UNF Alumni Association will be holding an event for all graduating seniors and upperclassmen called  "In Good Taste," a professional etiquette dinner, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the University Center, Board of Trustees Room, Room 1058.

This is a fun-filled evening that guarantees to provide the confidence students need to step out into the workforce and make that first impression. The event includes a free three-course meal and reference guide titled, "Minding Your Manners."

UNF to Host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!

The University of North Florida’s College of Education and Human Services will host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!, a writing camp to aid fourth through eighth graders to become better FCAT and lifelong writers, from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning Saturday, Jan. 22, and running through Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in the College of Education and Human Services, Building 57, Room 1100A on the UNF campus.

Wounded Warrior Project Announces Scholarship

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is proud to announce a $1,000 scholarship and essay contest for high school seniors. The scholarship is open to public, private, and home schooled students in the Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. John’s Counties in Florida.

Students are being asked to submit a 500 word essay answering the question, “Why is it important to honor our Veterans?” Deadline for the essay is February 21, 2011.  A panel of judges will then honor the top essay from each county with a $1,000 scholarship award which winners can use at any college, technical school or university nationwide.
