Clay County Teachers Ratify the 2010-2011 Contract

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Teachers in Clay County have voted to ratify the 2010-2011 CCEA/CCSB Contract. Clay County teachers have worked without a contract since August.

Teachers voted Monday night, out of 1237 votes cast, 1172 in favor and 65 against.

In the new contract, teachers will receive their full year of experience on the salary schedule without retroactive pay. They will also receive full coverage of the single basic HMO health insurance beginning in 2011.

The Clay County Education Association (CCEA) President Elizabeth Crane stated, "The CCEA and the CCEA Bargaining team worked very hard for the past eight months to come to an agreement with the Clay County School Board. 94% of our teachers voted in favor of this contract. Our teachers continue to work for the betterment of our students and the district. Clay County Schools has been an A District since 2003-2004. This is a testament to our educators. They deserve this contract and the district agreed with us. We look forward to continue to make Clay County Schools A Priority."

Clay County schools face a budget shortfall of approximately $19 Million.
