Dog is Orange Park Teacher's Classroom Helper

ORANGE PARK, Fla -- An Argyle Elementary teacher is using a furry friend to keep kindergarteners focused on learning.

Angel is Terry Runte's special assistant of four years, and she earns her place at Argyle Elementary.

"It's not just bringing a pet to work," Runte explains.

The hypoallergenic pup's full-time job started with visits.

"I started seeing amazing things happen," Runte recalled, like crayons in their cups instead of on the floor. "Because I said, you can't leave them down there, she'll eat them! So they started picking them up. And if the children would run in the room, she would bark [and I'd tell them], 'Ah ha! She got you!'"

Runte saw her students respond to Angel. They enjoyed reading to her and writing letters to her when she wasn't visiting.

The veteran teacher knew the relationship was something special and quickly took the next step: getting Angel certified as a R.E.A.D. Program Reading Education Assistance Dog.

From Palatka, Florida to Guanaja, Honduras

Getting to the village of Savannah Bight in Guanaja, Honduras is not an easy thing to do, but well worth the effort.  It's a place like most of us cannot imagine.  No malls or grocery stores, no mail carriers to fill your mailbox.  My TV had one channel, ESPN.

First, let me tell you I am not from Palatka, I live in Fleming Island. But, Palatka was very important to the success of the trip.

Vitamins and Minerals

Herbs and spices have more disease-fighting antioxidants than most fruits and vegetables. Here's how to rack up the benefits.

Dr. Wallach promotes something called "colloidal" vitamins and minerals. Don LaPre promoted "Chelated"...both are promoting a better absorption rate over "Synthetic" and/or "Once-A-Day" Nutrition. The idea briefly, is the ability to (1) be absorbed into the body, (2) being the "right" nutrient so it can be utilized before it reaches the intestines and (3) being properly expelled (leftover nutrient) from the body in 3-7 hours
