Clay county girls under investigation for animal cruelty

Bank robbery suspect caught in 4 minutes

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A bank robbery suspect was arrested four minutes after he allegedly took money from an Orange Park bank Thursday.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to the Compass Bank at in the 500 block of Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park after receiving a call about a robbery at 4:50 p.m.Thursday. By 4:54 p.m. the unidentified suspect was in custody.

According to CCSO, the suspect entered the bank and told the teller he was armed. He left the bank with an undetermined amount of money and was seen leaving the area on a bicycle that witnesses then saw placed into the bed of a truck.

The truck was spotted by CCSO on Blanding Blvd. not far from the bank. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in a parking lot and the suspect was arrested without incident, according to CCSO.

The investigation is ongoing.

Suspect in custody after claiming to have grenade

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A portion of College Drive in Orange Park was closed Friday afternoon.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office responded to the 300 block of College Drive after 39-year-old James King claimed to have a grenade, according to a release from the CCSO.

King was later taken into custody.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad also responded to examine the device King had in his possession.

Beach driving victim recalls devastating accident

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The case of a woman badly injured when she was run by a truck over on Daytona Beach is being heard by a Volusia County jury this week.

Truck crashes into home again

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Jennifer Beaudry and her family love their home but they fear living in their home.

"My biggest fear is that we get a drive that comes down in the afternoon and I'm in the yard with my children and one of us get hurt," said Beaudry.

Beaudry lives in the Doctor's Lake Estate community; near Bay Street and Cedar Road.

"it is terrifying," she said.

Last Friday night a truck lost control in the turn near Doctors Lake Drive and Bay street and flew through the wooded area and landed in the Beaudrys backyard.

"I was sitting on the couch watching the news and all of a sudden I heard a loud bang,' said Beaudry.

The Ford ranger hit one of the columns holding up the back porch ceiling.

"I came to the door and I noticed the vehicle was backing up and he was driving toward the house again," she said.

Meth lab bust lands 4 in jail

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Discovery of meth lab equipment in an Orange Park hotel room Sunday led to four arrests.

Authorities were called to the Orange Park Rodeway Inn Sunday to investigate reports of a chemical smell coming from room #165.

On Monday morning, the Orange Park Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff's Office announced the following arrests:

46-year-old Michael Anthony St. Angelo and 33-year-old Jessica Lynn Carpenter were charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.

Suspect shot on crowded road by Orange Park police

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A car chase following an attempted robbery ended Monday morning when police shot a robbery suspect four times on a busy Orange Park highway.

The shooting and a car crash occurred around 10 a.m. Monday morning in the 600 block of Park Avenue.

It started when Jarvis Tyrone Lee, 27, allegedly robbed the Check Casher at 644 Park Avenue. Officers with OPPD responded, saw Lee's vehicle fleeing the scene and tracked him down.

According to OPPD, Lee fired at the pursuing officer several times, hitting his patrol vehicle in the process. Lee then took off down Plainfield Avenue to Blake Avenue then to Highway 17. The suspect eventually crashed his vehicle into two OPPD vehicles in the 800 block of Park Avenue.
