Man arrested after police find dead body in motel room | News
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A man is in jail on charges of armed robbery and murder after Clay County Sheriff's deputies found a dead body in a motel on Park Avenue.
Wednesday morning police found 49-year-old Andrew Stiekman dead in the motel room he lived in at the Rodeway Inn located at 300 Park Avenue.
Mary Justino, Public Affairs Officer with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, said detectives arrested 22-year-old John Buskager after an investigation involving the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Orange Park Police Department and the Jacksonville Medical Examiner's Office.
The arrest report for Buskager said Stiekman's room appeared to have been straightened and that his wallet, cell phone and van were missing.
Police did a search of Stiekman's last known addresses. When they went to the address where he lived prior to the hotel they found Buskager.
After interviewing him, the report said detectives determined Buskager met with Stiekman with the intention of robbing him. The report said when Buskager tried to rob the man, a struggle happened. During the struggle, Buskager allegedly strangled Stiekman.
Justino said John Buskager detectives arrested Buskager and transported him to the Clay County Jail where he faces charges of murder and robbery.
