ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The family of a murdered woman say they want to give their mother some peace.

Dede Etey was allegedly killed by her own son Monday, and now her family is trying to get some closure.

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the lord forever and ever," read Nadou Lawson.

Lawson finds comfort in reading her mother's favorite Bible verse.

She used to ask her daughter to read it to her time and time again.

"Her heart is just so loving," said Lawson.

Lawson says her mother's violent death Monday did not match her life, which she spent helping people.

Now she says it's her turn to help her mother.

Her family is from Ghana and her father's from Togo.

Culturally it's incredibly important for her Mom be buried at home.

"It's a tradition that if someone dies we bring them back where they're from. It's important to the family because most of her family is there," she said.

So now they're trying to raise the money to bring her back home.

The Lawson's came to the United States in 2000.

They were political refugees after escaping from Togo.

"We had to flee for our life, for safety," she said.

They are all American citizens now, but at the end of her life, she knows her mother would want to go back home.

"Closure, for closure," said Lawson.

If you would like to donate to the Lawson family, they have set up a Vystar account to try and get Dede home.
