Det. White Memorial Golf Tournament raises $31K | News
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The Detective David White Memorial Golf Tournament, which took place this past weekend, has been declared a huge success by the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
Held Saturday at the Orange Park Country Club, the event raised $31,000, according to a release from Clay County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Mary Justino.
Justino said on behalf of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #104, the White Family and the CCSO Honor Guard, thank you to all the golfers, sponsors and attendees who purchased dinner tickets and bid on items during the auction.
The funds raised by the golf tournament will help send the Honor Guard to Washington, D.C., in May of 2013. They will go to represent the CCSO at the National Police Memorial ceremony.
The honor guard will accompany Detective White's family, whose name and image will be added to the memorial at that time.
Jennifer White, the widow of Detective David White, was at the tournament and hit the ceremonial first drive to get the event underway. She also said she wished to express her gratitude and thank the many golfers and volunteers for remembering her husband in such a positive way.
