Orange Park skeletal remains identified

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A body found in an Orange Park retention pond earlier this week has been identified as Erenio Rodriquez.

Rodriquez was reported missing from his Jacksonville home about a year ago and was the subject of a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office missing person investigation, according to Public Information Officer Mary Justino of the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Rodriquez was last seen in the Orange Park area.  He was identified through the use of dental records. The cause of death remains unkown, according to Justino.

The bones were found in a pond near 350 Crossing Boulevard by a 15-year-old boy who was fishing from the pond, according to Clay County Sheriff's Office Col. Craig Aldrich.

Work done by the Clay Utility Authority caused the water level of the lake to drop, which is how the teen was able to see the skeletal remains, according to a release from CCSO Public Information Officer Mary Justino.
