Shoplifting Suspects Ignore Clerk, Take What They Want
News

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A store clerk had a hunch a couple in her store may be shoplifters, but they still walked right out the door with merchandise, ignoring the clerk.

According to the incident report from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the incident began Friday at about 11:30 a.m. at the Tuesday Morning store on Blanding Boulevard.

The clerk said a man and woman walked in the store, and she thought they looked familiar.  The corporate office had alerted the store's employees about a shoplifting ring, and she thought they may be connected to that, so she kept an eye on them as they shopped.

Knowing they were being watched, according to the report, the couple spent over an hour walking through the store.

When the clerk turned around briefly, she said about one minute, they were heading out the door with a shopping cart full of clothes, purses and toys, which they proceeded to load into a car parked in the fire lane just outside the store.

The clerk said she spoke to the suspects, but they ignored her as they loaded their items into the car.

Since they wouldn't talk to her, the clerk snapped a picture of them in action.  The picture also includes a car, but after tracing the license plate, the sheriff's office said the owner of the car isn't either of the people pictured.

If you know anything that can help find these suspects, call our partner First Coast Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS (8477).  You will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
