Clay County Health Department Clinic Opens to Reduce Use of Emergency Rooms for Non-Emergency Care

The Clay County Health Department will see uninsured patients at the Ed Stansel clinic located in Green Cove Springs two days a week starting April 4th. To get an appointment, a patient’s eligibility must be assessed by the Health Department Social Services staff.

“Since this is a grant funded clinic, requirements must be met before people can become patients of this clinic,” stated Nancy Mills, Health Department Administrator. “People that will be seen at this clinic must be Clay County residents, don’t have a regular doctor and don’t have insurance. They also must meet with our Social Service staff to see if they are eligible before they will be given an appointment.” If a Clay County resident needs a healthcare provider, but is not eligible for the Ed Stansel clinic in Green Cove Springs, they can call the health department about their Bear Run location in Orange Park.
