Winn-Dixie Partners with Feeding America to Help Fight Hunger

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. announced it has joined forces with Feeding America to launch the Give a Meal program, which gives Winn-Dixie guests and team members the opportunity to help provide food to nearly 37 million Americans — including more than 14 million children — facing hunger this holiday season. Give a Meal runs through Jan. 3 and is available in all of Winn-Dixie’s 482 stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Every $1 donated during the campaign helps provide eight meals to people in need.

Greater Jacksonville USO to Receive $1,000 in Honor of Veteran's Day

 

The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation is honoring Veterans Day on November 11 by donating $1,000 to Greater Jacksonville Area USO to help support the USO’s efforts to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to local troops and their families. The donation is one of ten (10) $1,000 grants presented to individual USO centers throughout the country for a total donation of $10,000. The mission of The DDBRCF is to serve the basic needs of communities through food for the hungry, safety and children's health.

Group donates unprecedented million dollars to launch homeless veterans' center in Northeast Florida

 

Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. and Affiliates (AVW) have donated $1,000,000 to purchase a building and provide start-up costs for a Jacksonville area in-house center to help veterans in need.

The group’s aggressive goal is to immediately fill a void for American heroes who have fallen on hard times during this tumultuous economy by opening the AVW Veterans Center in time for the holidays, according to Jerry Bass, National Commander, Allied Veterans of the World, Inc.
