In the spirit of giving back to the community, six Target employees traveled to Girls Inc. of Jacksonville’s Arlington Girls’ Center to craft and spend time with the girls.
Target donated the supply crafts and, "our store had such a fun time making bracelets with the girls! Girls Inc. is a fabulous program, and we are so thrilled to be a part of the positive message they are sending out to these girls, and our city," explained Kimberly Verrill, Target Orange Park. The employees were eager to get involved after another Jacksonville Target location volunteered at the Girls Inc. annual Daddy Daughter Dance during spring of last year.
Target’s relationship with Girls Inc. began a few years back and has continued to flourish. “We love having groups from the community come in to volunteer with the girls, it shows the girls that people care about them,” said Center Director Dinorah Gonzalez.
Girls Inc. of Jacksonville is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preparing girls, ages 5 – 18, to be self-confident, responsible and well-rounded individuals. They deliver the Girls Inc. National curriculum through their Outreach, AfterSchool, Literacy and Summer programs in Northeast Florida.
As the school year comes to an end, Target’s visit was a fun ending to a great year at Girls Inc.! For more information about Girls Inc. or about upcoming summer camp programs please visit www.girlsincjax.org or contact Lina Skeim at 904-731-9933 or skeiml@girlsincjax.org.
