Woman Killed by Stray Bullet was Wife, Mother of Three | Crime
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The children of the woman killed Friday by a stray bullet are wondering why it happened.
Analiza Gobaton, 41, was on her way to watch two of her children receive awards at school for making the honor roll Friday morning when gunfire erupted a block away.
One bullet that missed its intended target hit Gobaton in the head, and the nurse, wife and mother of three died Sunday.
"A very senseless act, very tragic," said close friend Annabelle Ramirez.
Ramirez leafed through a photo album of Gobaton's work.
"She would record everything," she said of Gobaton, also a photographer.
For all of the titles Gobaton earned, none made her more proud than mother, her friend said.
"Her kids...that was everything to her."
The shooting happened a block from the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and 103rd Street shortly after 8 a.m.
Police believe the shooter was involved in a gunfight on Transylvania Avenue, but no arrests have been made.
