Clay County Fire Rescue Responds to a Residential Structure  Fire

Clay County Fire Rescue personnel responded to a residential structure fire on Tuesday, January 18 2011 at approximately 7:36 p.m. An emergency call placed to CCFR dispatchers alerted them to the fire in the 400 Block of Hayton Avenue, Orange Park.

A total of 20 firefighters responded to the blaze including four engine companies, two rescue crews, two Battalion Chiefs and the Fire Marshal. Upon arrival, initial reports indicated heavy fire at the rear of the structure.

The homeowners were home at the time of the fire when they became aware of fire on a back porch area. The occupants were able to get out of the home safely, but 5 dogs were lost in the fire.  No civilians or firefighters were injured.

The fire was reported under control at 7:50pm, and completely out at 7:59. The fire is under investigation by the County Fire Marshal’s office at this time/not under investigation.
